The Arthur Murray® Dance School Curriculum

Our curriculum is designed to teach you in a logical order—from the easiest to relatively more challenging forms. Each level consists of building blocks from the level before. Our interrelated system will allow you to learn what you want to learn quickly and efficiently.

At Arthur Murray Dance School Winnipeg, we understand that each student has different goals, learning styles and schedules. We take pride in personalizing individual dance programs that will help you achieve your goals faster.

The degree of dancing achieved varies on your desire, objectives, commitment and interest. No matter what dance level you achieve, you will always have the skill of dance to use for a lifetime.

Introductory Program

This program is designed as an introduction to today's most popular dances. The introductory lesson allows you to come into the studio, meet your teacher and get started on your dancing goals. It's the perfect avenue to begin working on your immediate dancing needs and evaluate future goals.

Full Bronze Program

Full Bronze is the complete social dance program taught by Arthur Murray Dance Studios. It's designed to develop timing and techniques in all the social dances selected by the student. The styling will make you look and feel comfortable on the dance floor and strengthen your lead and following skills, regardless of who your partner is. A Full Bronze dancer has all the confidence anyone would need on the dance floor. The techniques at this level will be yours to keep as you will never forget the elements of each dance. At this level you have reached a point in your dancing where you don't have to think and you can start enjoying yourself and your partner.

Introductory Basic Program

The basic program develops the dances you plan to use immediately, and places emphasis on the three most important elements of dancing:
1. Foot position;
2. Rhythm and timing;
3. Leading and following with enough variety to keep your learning experience interesting, fun and easy.

Silver Program

Silver is the dance program with a high degree of styling. Flashy movements ensure the Silver dancer will stand out on the dance floor. Continuity of movement makes you glide across the dance floor with many natural directional changes. This is the beginning of a more professional standard used mainly on the ballroom floor.

Gold Program

The Gold Program is for the stars, and strictly for the hobby dancer who loves to perform and compete. Its intricate patterns are only to be used when both partners are proficient. Choreography, styling, technique and showmanship are necessities in this standard. This material is not generally used on a crowded floor. There is a lot of work involved in this program, but you will truly be looked at as an outstanding dancer, able to excel in any dance.

Associate Bronze Program

The Associate Bronze Program will help you acquire freer movement around the dance floor, while expanding your variety, technique and footwork. Associate Bronze dancers also begin to develop portrayal of a dance's characteristics in the form of styling. This dance program is very popular with people wanting to get on the dance floor quickly.
